About: me I'm Totally Just an Amateur...
All of the digitals I tried were simply not up to the difficult demands of concert photography and I was disappointed in them all. So I used my 35 mm as often as I was permitted. (And little did I know how infrequently my cheap equipment was considered "professional" and NOT permitted at many venues! When Canon came out with it's smaller and lighter Rebel Ti camera body, I switched to that and really loved it. It's so much more user-friendly than the Minolta! Of course I had to get yet more lenes for it, since of course, I couldn't use the Minolta lenses on it. Along the way though, I kept trying various digitals, and when I got to the Olympus 3030Z, I found it was pretty good. And when the Olympus C770 Ultra Zoom came out, it was even better - smaller and faster. Still, its best shots in concerts required flash, which I really hate doing. And focusing was still slow, and recharging after a flash shot even slower. So many good shots were missed because of those lags. Still, it's a great all-around-use camera, small, light, easy to carry, excellent picture quality, and with its 10x zoom, is extremely versatile. I finally bit the bullet last fall and got a Canon EOS 20D. What a great camera! So very fast, and great pictures! I can't wait to try it out in a concert setting! I bit a HUGE bullet and got the 70-300 zoom for it which is image-stabilized, and significantly shorter tthan the Canon 75-300 zoom, so I'm hoping that it will do well escaping tthe scrutiny of venue camera police! Of course the 20D is VERY heavy compared with 35mm cameras, but the convenience of all-digital is a huge bonus! Cameras: Lenses: |
